Product Features and Suitable Substrates
- Suitable substrates: steel plates, iron sheets, fiberglass, and existing paint layers, among others.
- High-speed rail-specific putty is designed for large-area leveling and application on the surfaces of high-speed trains, bullet trains, and light rail vehicles—offering a longer initial working time while achieving rapid curing in the later stages.
- It features easy application and scraping, no sagging, excellent sandability, superior flexibility, strong adhesion, and outstanding impact resistance.
Construction Instructions
- Sand the substrate ready for puttying, removing grease and moisture.
- Thoroughly mix the putty with the hardener until the color is evenly consistent.
- Quickly level after mixing within the working time.
- After applying and scraping, allow it to harden before sanding.
- Thoroughly remove rust flakes, oil stains, old paint films, and moisture from the metal surface using solvents and a polishing tool, ensuring the surface to be coated remains clean and completely dry.
- Mix the putty and hardener at a weight ratio of 100:2 until thoroughly combined (ensuring a uniform color). Use the mixture within the available working time of 30 to 50 minutes. If the mixed putty begins to set—noticeable by increased resistance when spreading—immediately stop using it. The usable time is influenced by ambient temperature, humidity levels, and the amount of hardener added.
- Quickly press the mixed putty into the area to be applied, then swiftly smooth it out. As you apply and scrape, firmly pack the putty deeper into the surface to eliminate any tiny air bubbles—make sure none are left trapped in the substrate’s imperfections or gaps.
- If thick coating by scraping is required, apply in layers (2–3 times), allowing each layer to surface-dry for 30 minutes (check by ensuring the surface is no longer sticky to the touch). Each application should not exceed 0.1 cm in thickness.
- Grinding can only be performed once the putty has fully hardened. After applying and scraping, wait 60 minutes before sanding with ≥240-grit sandpaper—dry sanding with a sander is recommended. During the rainy season or in high-humidity conditions, slightly extend the sanding time to ensure optimal results.
Important Notes
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from heat and ignition sources, and protect from direct sunlight.
- If bubbles seep in during application, use a scraper to smooth it out thoroughly, ensuring excellent adhesion.
- If a thick coat is needed, apply multiple thin layers until the desired thickness is achieved.
- Unused putty and hardener must be stored tightly sealed; putty mixed with hardener should not be returned to its original container.
- Storage time: 6 months.
